Chocolate Caramel Poke Cake

This decadent chocolate cake is made with simple ingredients, starting with a boxed cake mix, caramel sauce, chocolate pudding, and frozen whipped topping. It comes together quickly and one cake will serve 12-16 people making it perfect for large gatherings.

Chocolate caramel poke cake is a delicious dessert, starting with a chocolate cake that is filled with caramel and finished with a light chocolate topping.   Add chopped pecans for a quick turtle cake!

Bake the cake according to box directions.  Allow the cake to cool, then poke holes over the top of the cake with the end of a wooden spoon. 

Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cake being sure to fill the holes, then spread any remaining sauce over the top of the cake.

Mix milk and the chocolate pudding just until it begins to thicken, the fold in the thawed whipped topping.  Spread it over the cake.  Drizzle with chocolate and caramel sauce for an added touch.

Allow the cake to chill for at least an hour before slicing and serving. Serve as is, or top with chopped pecans, crushed graham crackers, or chopped Snickers or Twix bars. Serve with ice cream, or whipped cream, if desired.
