Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes about 1 inch in size.
Place the potatoes in a large pot, cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are fork tender.
Drain the potatoes, then add the butter, sour cream and ranch seasoning and mash until creamy.
Stir the chopped herbs into the mashed potatoes and season with salt and pepper if desired. Serve drizzled with melted butter.
