Hot Chocolate Bombs

These spheres of chocolate, filled with hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows, are super easy to make. Then, just add milk for the creamiest, most delicoius hot cocoa you've ever had.

Hot Chocolate Bombs

Makes 6 delicious hot chocolate bombs. Great for gifts or holiday parties.

Chocolate chips or melting wafers Hot chocolate mix Mini marshmallows Candy sprinkles

Ingredients

Melt the chocolate

Place the chocolate chips or melting wafers in a microwave safe bowl or double boiler. Heat until the chocolate is melted and smooth.

Make the chocolate shells

Spoon about two teaspoons of chocolate into each silicone mold cavity and use a pastry brush to spread the chocolate. Make sure to get all the way to the edge. Let it set, then repeat.

Fill the Chocolate Bombs

Let the chocolate shells set. Stretch the silicone mold to loosen the shells,  then add a scoop of hot chocolate mix and some mini marshmallows to six of the chocolate shells.

Remove from the mold and heat the edge

Remove the empty halves from the mold.  Working one at a time, heat the edge of a shell on a warm plate. 

Seal the Hot Chocolate Bombs

Place the empty shell on a filled shell and press gently for 2 or 3 seconds to fuse the halves together. Then gently release the bottom shell from the mold.

Decorate the  Hot Chocolate Bombs

Drizzle a bit of melted chocolate over the sealed hot chocolate bomb and decorate it with candy sprinkles.

Make the Hot Chocolate

Place one or two cocoa bombs into a mug. Add 12-16 ounces of hot milk and stir.  Top with marshmallows, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce if desired.
