Jalapeno mayo is a delicious condiment with the fresh flavour of jalapeno, cilantro, and lime. This spicy mayonnaise works great as a dip, sauce, or spread.
Print Recipe
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2-3 jalapeno peppers 1/4 cup diced
- 1/4 cup cilantro loosely packed
- 1 small clove of garlic
- 2 tsp lime juice fresh squeezed
Start by slicing the jalapenos in half, then remove the seeds. Dice the jalapenos into small pieces. Then dice the garlic.
Add the mayonnaise, jalapeno, garlic, cilantro, and lime juice to a small bowl.
Using an immersion blender, pulse a few times to blend the ingredients until smooth. Make sure the blender is fully submerged to avoid splatter.
Taste the mayonnaise. Add a bit more lime if needed or more jalapeno if you want it spicier.
Move the prepared mayonnaise to an airtight container or jar for storage in the refrigerator. It should keep for about 10 days.
You can serve it immediately, but it will have better flavour if it can sit for at least 30 minutes.
- Jalapenos range in flavour and spice level depending on many factors. Taste the jalapenos before adding them to the mayo if you are concerned about it being too spicy.
- Use more jalapenos or less, depending on your spice tolerance.
- For spicier mayonnaise, you can leave the seeds in the jalapenos rather than remove them.
- If you do not like cilantro, you can omit this ingredient.
- If you do not have an immersion blender, you can use a food processor or blender instead.
