This pumpkin fluff with caramel is the ultimate fall treat.

Tasting just like a pumpkin pie in a creamy, fluffy dip, this delicious dish is a perfect little snack or dessert when served with sliced apples, graham crackers, ginger snaps, or homemade cinnamon pita chips.

This creamy pumpkin fluff can also be used as a filling for no-bake pumpkin tarts.

With only five ingredients and five minutes of prep, it is a quick and easy snack when you need a sweet fix.

We serve it drizzled with caramel or butterscotch and a dusting of pumpkin pie spice. You can add mini marshmallows for a thicker, more spoonable dish, turning it into a fluffy dessert salad.

It only uses half a cup of pumpkin puree and is a great way to use leftover pumpkin when making dishes like pumpkin cheesecake brownies or pumpkin pancakes.

This recipe just under 3 cups of dip, and will keep in the refrigerator for a few days.

Ingredients & Substitutions

For a full list of ingredients and measurements, see the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Pumpkin puree: For this recipe, you will want to use regular pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling. Pumpkin pie filling, with its added sugars and spices, tends to make this dip overly sweet.

Frozen whipped topping: You can use regular, fat-free, or sugar-free whipped topping for this recipe. Frozen whipped topping works better than real whipped cream as it has stabilizers that help keep the dip fluffy, whereas real whipped cream deflates and becomes watery after time.

Butterscotch pudding mix: The instant pudding mix helps give the dip structure and flavor. Butterscotch or caramel is an excellent choice as the flavour pairs well with the pumpkin and spices. Vanilla or white chocolate pudding mix also works well in this recipe.

Pumpkin pie spice: Pumpkin pie spice is a mix of cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg, and it is the secret ingredient that makes this dip taste just like your favourite pumpkin pie. You can use a store-bought spice mix or make your pumpkin pie spice by blending the individual spices.

Caramel sauce: A little caramel or butterscotch sauce adds flavor and sweetness to the dip. We add a bit to the fluff and also drizzle a little bit on top before serving. Maple syrup is an excellent substitute for the caramel sauce if you don’t have any or have time to make your own.

Marshmallow Pumpkin Fluff

If you love dessert salads like ambrosia salad, you may like making this fluff with marshmallows.

Add one to two cups of marshmallows to this recipe for a thicker dip or spoonable salad.

After mixing, let the dip rest for a few hours or overnight. The mini marshmallows will puff up, become super fluffy and soft, and give the dip more texture.
