Air Fryer Frozen Waffles

Frozen waffles heated in the air fryer make a quick and easy breakfast. These waffles are crisp on the outside and stay soft on the inside and are ready in 4 minutes.

Why we love this recipe

OK, while not really a recipe, there is a reason why we love doing our frozen waffles in the air fryer.

While it’s just as easy to pop these in the toaster, the toaster sometimes tends to heat unevenly leaving half the waffle cold and half over-browned.

The air fryer circulates the heat evenly so the waffles are perfectly crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside. We can fit 4 waffles in our air fryer and since we only have a 2-slice toaster it also means we can cook more at a time.

We use the traditional buttermilk Eggo waffles for this recipe.

Pre-heat the air fryer at 350°F for 5 minutes.

Place the frozen waffles in the air fryer basket so they are not overlapping. I can fit 4 waffles in my 5.8qt basket.

Place the basket back in the air fryer and set it to 350°F for 4 minutes. At the half way mark flip the waffles.

When the timer is complete, remove the waffles from the basket and serve.

Pro Tip – You can forgo the pre-heat cycle if you prefer and add 1 minute to the cook time. If you are going to be cooking multiple batches you will want to reduce to the 4 minute cook time for all batches after the first.

You can serve toaster waffles, or air fried waffles, just like you would any other homemade waffle.

The nice things about frozen waffles is there is no preparation involved. You can just cook them, butter them and go.

But to make them fancier, I like to serve them with fresh berries, maple syrup, or even some whipped cream.

Do I need to pre-heat my air fryer?

It really depends on your air fryer and what you are cooking. I find that recipes that have longer cook times are less effected by pre-heating than recipe with short cook times.

If you don’t want to pre-heat, you may need to add a minute or two to the cook time.

Can I overlap food in the air fryer?

Some food, like French fries or wings can be slightly overlapped as you will shake the basket a few times during the cook process.

For things that are baked or things that are flat, like waffles, it is best if they are cooked in an even layer with no overlap.
