Air-fried baked pears are quick and easy. They are a delicious dessert option when you want something light, but they work equally as well for a snack or breakfast.

Whole, fresh pears are simply sliced in half, cored and then sprinkled with a brown sugar cinnamon mixture that turns into a bubbly, gooey caramel when heated in the air fryer.

The baked pears will be soft and warm, but still firm enough that they are not mushy. They are delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce, but they are just as tasty when they are served cold.

Served with some Greek yogurt and crunchy granola they make a delicious breakfast.

Ingredients

These air fryer dessert pears are made with just a few simple ingredients. You will need:

  • Fresh pears – You can use whatever variety of pears you like. Anjou pears or Bartlett pears both work well. Just be sure to choose pears that are ripe, but not over-ripe.
  • Brown sugar – Dark or light brown sugar both work fine. Dark brown sugar will have a slightly richer flavour than light brown sugar.
  • Cinnamon – Cinnamon adds a nice light spice to these pears. If you want, you can substitute this with spices like pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice, depending what you have on hand.
  • Butter – I like to use salted butter as it gives these pears just a bit more flavour, but you can use unsalted butter just fine.
  • All purpose flour – The flour helps hold the crumble together and prevents it from melting as much. If you need to keep this recipe gluten-free you can omit the flour if you prefer.
Three whole pears and 4 small bowls containing brown sugar, cinnamon, butter and flour.

Instructions

Begin by slicing the pears in half lengthwise and, using a small, sharp knife, carefully remove the core and fibrous stem.

In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, and butter in a small bowl. You can use a fork or simply use your fingers, mixing until it is crumbly.

Two pears on a cutting board cut in half with core removed.

Place the pears, cut side up, in a baking pan that will fit in your air fryer basket, then sprinkle the crumble mixture on the pears, filling the core and spreading the mixture over the surface of the pears.

Four pear halves face up with brown sugar cinnamon mix sprinkled on top in a small dish in an air fryer basket.

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 4 minutes, then place the pears in the basket.

Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook the pears for 20-25 minutes until the pears are soft enough that a fork goes in easily.

Pro-Tip: Cooking time will vary slightly depending on the variety and ripeness of the pears you choose. Softer pears will need a shorter cooking time, while pears on the firmer side will require a longer cooking time.

Pro-Tip: If you don’t have a baking dish that will fit in your air fryer basket you can air fry these pears without one, or line the basket with tin foil. The dish helps catch any caramel that drips off the pears so you can scoop it up and add it to the pears when you serve them.

Remove the pears from the air fryer and serve!

Serving Suggestions

There are so many ways you can serve these delicious pears.

As a dessert, I love to serve these air-fried pears warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce.

Sometimes I like to top them with sliced almonds or chopped pecans for a bit of crunch. You can even add a drizzle of liqueur if you like.

As a breakfast, I like to serve these pears with a dollop of Greek yogurt and a sprinkle of granola.

As a snack, I may serve them with either ice cream or yogurt, but I’ll often just eat them as is.

I’ve eaten them both hot and cold and I love them both ways.

Ingredients

  • 2 pears Anjou or Bartlett
  • ¼ cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon salted butter softened

Instructions

  • Start by slicing the pears in half lengthwise and then, using a small, sharp knife, carefully remove the core and fibrous stem.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, flour and butter until it is crumbly. You can do this with a fork or simply mix it with your fingers.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for 4 minutes.
  • While the air fryer is preheating, place the pears cut-side up in a baking pan that fits in your air fryer basket.
  • Sprinkle the tops of the pears with the brown sugar mixture, filling the core and sprinkling it over the surface.
  • When the air fryer is finished preheating, place the pan in the basket. Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook the pears for 20-25 minutes. You are looking for pears that are soft enough to be pierced with a fork, but still have a bit of resistance.
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve as desired.

Notes

If you don’t have a baking pan that fits your air fryer basket you can either line the bottom with foil (after it has preheated) or simply place the pears in the basket.  The pan just helps catch any melted brown sugar so you can spoon the caramel over the pears when serving.
The time to cook will vary depending on the variety of pears you have chosen and the ripeness of the pears.  Softer pears will need a shorter cook time, while firmer pears will require a longer cook time.
