Air Fryer Flatbread Pizza

Air fryer flatbread pizza is a quick and easy way to enjoy pizza dinner without a lot of work. With just a few minutes of prep and 5 minutes in the air fryer, this pizza has a nice crispy crust and melty, bubbly cheese. Serve it for a quick lunch or dinner for a meal the whole family will love.

Naan pizza is a great way to enjoy pizza when you don’t have much time to cook and don’t want to wait for delivery.

Store-bought flatbread makes the perfect, crispy pizza crust. When made in the air fryer, it needs less than 5 minutes of cooking time, making it an excellent option for a quick lunch or busy weeknight dinner.

Naan pizzas are a family favorite because the flatbreads are the perfect size for a personal pizza.

Because they are small, you don’t have to feel guilty about eating the whole thing, and it’s easy for everyone in the family to make their own and add their favorite toppings.

Store-bought naan flatbread – I used regular naan in this recipe, but whole wheat naan would also be great.  If you don’t have naan, you can use any form of flatbread, such as pita bread or store-bought pizza crust. 

Pizza sauce – We just used a store-bought jar of sauce. But you can use homemade pizza sauce or another variety of tomato sauce, such as store-bought marinara or pasta sauce like pesto or alfredo.

Shredded mozzarella cheese –  Shredding your cheese at home will give you the smoothest, meltiest cheese and the best-tasting pizza, but this recipe works ok with pre-shredded cheese if that’s all you have. Instead of shredded cheese, you could also use pieces of fresh mozzarella or mozzarella pearls. 

Toppings – Get as creative as you want. Keep it simple with pepperoni or ham, or load them up with all the veggies. It’s up to you. 

There really is no limit to how creative you can get with these tasty pizzas.  There are so many great options. 

Some of our favorite toppings are: 

  • Cooked, crumbled bacon
  • Cooked, crumbled sausage
  • Ham
  • Diced bell peppers
  • Sliced olives
  • Diced onion
  • Sliced jalapeno

Step by Step Instructions

While assembling the pizza, preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 380°F.

Place naan flatbreads on a cutting board and top the flatbread with pizza sauce.

Add the shredded cheese and your choice of toppings to the flatbread.

Place the pizza in the preheated air fryer basket. Return the basket to the air fryer and set the temperature to 380°F.

Cook for 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edge of the flatbread is golden brown.

Storing Leftovers

You can store flatbread pizzas in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.

Allow the leftover pizza to cool completely, then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container. 

It can be reheated in the microwave. You can also reheat it in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or an air fryer at 320°F for 3-5 minutes.

Top Tips & Tricks

  • Don’t skip preheating the air fryer for this recipe. Preheating the appliance helps trap heat allowing the cheese to melt faster and help prevent the toppings from blowing off the pizza.
  • Check the pizza after 4 minutes, and if needed, add 1 minute of extra time until the cheese is melted and the crust is crisp.

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer at 380°F for 5 minutes.
  • Assemble the pizzas, starting with pizza sauce, then add shredded cheese and desired toppings.
  • Place the pizza in a single layer in the preheated air fryer basket.
  • Cook the pizzas at 380°F for 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the edge of the flatbread is crispy and golden brown.

Notes

If your air fryer does not have a setting for 380°F, reduce the temperature to 375°F.  Cooking time should not change.
