If you love crunchy snacks but are looking for something a little healthier than greasy potato chips, then these baked pita chips are the perfect solution.

Coated with herbs and spices, these pita chips are a tasty, crispy snack.

Baked in the oven, they take about 10 minutes, and a batch will stay fresh in an airtight container for about one week.

These chips are great on their own, but they are the ideal pairing with savory dips, as a crunchy side with a salad, or for dipping in a creamy soup.

We love to serve them with our favorite Elote Dip or Hot Leek Dip, and when we’re out of crackers they are ideal for dipping in a bowl of Creamy Cauliflower Soup.

They are really easy to make, and you can make them in any flavor you like simply by changing the seasoning. We usually season them with an herb and garlic blend, but they are great made with Cajun seasoning, Italian seasoning, or even ranch.

You can make them as big or small as you like, either bite-size for snacking or large wedges for dipping and you can cut them into wedges or strips, whatever you find easiest.

A bowl of these crispy chips is perfect for the snack table at a holiday gathering along with other snacks such as Baked Bagel Crisps or Ranch Party Mix.

And for dessert, try the baked cinnamon pita chips with a bowl of pumpkin fluff.

Ingredients & Substitutions

For a full list of ingredients and measurements, see the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Pita Bread: For this recipe, you want the pita pocket-style bread, not the thicker Greek-style pita. For thinner chips, you can divide the pockets into halves, and for thicker chips, you can leave them whole. This recipe works with either white or whole wheat pita, and you can use full size and cut them into wedges or strips, or use mini-pita pockets and cut them in half or into small wedges for bite-sized crisps.

Olive Oil: A little bit of oil will make the seasonings stick. If you don’t have olive oil, any type of oil will work. You can use vegetable oil, avocado oil, or coconut oil. Melted butter is also a great choice.

Seasonings: You can get creative and use whatever seasoning, or blend you like. Often we will use a simple herb and garlic seasoning blend, but you can use ranch seasoning, taco seasoning, cajun, Italian, or even simple salt and pepper depending on what you plan on serving them with.

Preparing the Pita Chips

Prepare the pita chips by brushing one side with oil and sprinkling with seasoning, then flip and repeat on the second side.

After you have coated the pita with seasoning, cut it into desired wedges or strips.

Seasoning before slicing makes the process quicker and easier than working with the individual wedges.

When baking, make sure the pita slices are in a single layer on the baking sheet to ensure even cooking.

Storage Tips

Pita chips can be kept at room temperature in an airtight container or ziplock bag.

They should keep for about one week.
