Spicy Peri-Peri Mayonnaise (Dip & Spread)
Peri-Peri mayo is a spicy condiment made with creamy mayonnaise, Nando’s peri-peri sauce, a few spices and fresh lemons. This spicy mayonnaise works great as a dip, sauce or spread. Use it to flavour sandwiches or burgers, as a dip for your favourite appetizers, or as a sauce for grilled chicken or shrimp.

Homemade peri-peri mayonnaise is a slightly spicy dip or spread that easy to prepare and made with simple ingredients. It is the perfect condiment for burgers and sandwiches or a dip for french fries, shrimp, or chicken.

Why we love this recipe:
In our house, we like spice, and there is rarely a meal served without some sort of spicy condiment on the table.
This Peri Peri mayo is a creamy, spicy condiment that works well as a dip or spread. It is made with creamy mayonnaise and Nando’s famous peri-peri sauce. Then, we add a few extra spices and fresh lemon juice to bring it all together.
The spiciness of the peri-peri sauce, combined with the creaminess of a mayonnaise, gives you just the right amount of heat without being overpowering.
We use the original hot peri-peri sauce when we make our mayonnaise, but if you like a little less heat, you can choose the medium spice, and if you like a lot of spicy kick, then you can choose the extra-hot variety.
This mayonnaise is a delicious condiment for grilled foods such as chicken burgers and chicken tenders, but it also works well as a dip for your favorite appetizers.
We love it with sweet potato fries, french fries, breaded shrimp, and chicken or steak bites. It is also fantastic on burgers and sandwiches.

Ingredients & Substitutions for Spicy Mayo

This easy recipe comes together with just five ingredients.
Mayonnaise – Choose your favorite brand of store-bought mayonnaise. You can use full-fat, low-fat, or even fat-free mayonnaise. If you have a favorite recipe for homemade mayonnaise, you could also use that.
Peri-Peri sauce – There are a few varieties of Peri-Peri sauce and this recipe was made with the original Hot Nando’s Peri-Peri sauce. It is made with African bird’s eye chilli and tomato and has a unique, spicy, and savory flavor. If you want your mayo more spicy you can use the extra-hot variety, and if you like less spice you can choose the medium peri-peri sauce.
Spices – We add smoked paprika and garlic powder to this mayo to add extra flavor. You can use regular paprika instead of smoked or a small clove of fresh garlic instead of garlic powder.
Lemon juice – This adds a bit of acidity and brings all the flavors together. I highly recommend fresh lemon juice, but you can use bottled if that is all you have.
